Born in 1925 in village Khiala, 8 km from Amritsar, Subeg Singh’s family owned about 100 acres of land!  Family Background Mehtab Singh joins Meeran Kot  At the age of 18, a great hockey and football player equaled India’s record of 100 meters!  Out of thousands of candidates from Khalsa College Amritsar in 1943, only one was selected for the Military Officer Training Academy!  World War I fought valiantly until 1945!  Then the 1948 incursion into Kashmir was stopped!  The war with the Chinese in 1962 was fought with fervor!  As soon as the war with Pak started in 1965, a telegram came on the front of Haji Peer and father Bhagwan Singh Ji was killed!  He could have got the leave but he put the message paper in his pocket and stood firm on the front against the enemy!  The others were shocked to hear this!

Then Mata Sardarni reached the village to encourage Pritam Kaur!  Why didn’t the mother die and the father died?  He was well aware of Fidrat on the morning of his birth!  In the 1971 war in Bangladesh, a Muslim youth named “Shah Beg” joined and formed an army called Mukti Vahini!  About one lakh Pak soldiers dropped their weapons!
Prizes like the Most Distinguished Service Medal (AVSM) and the Most Distinguished Service Medal (PVSM)!  Specializing in Military Science and Operational Tactics, the officer has held several important positions!

In 1973, Indira Gandhi ordered the army to arrest her political enemy Jai Prakash Narayan because the police had rebelled and refused to obey her orders.  Subeg Singh refused saying that army cannot interfere in political affairs!  Indira, accustomed to not listening, got angry and got involved in a minor corruption case (accused of accepting a gift of Rs. 2500).

Then began the never-ending process of glorifying it on foot!  Junior officers were promoted to seniority .. kept deprived of due promotion!  Corruption lawsuit deliberately postponed to retirement date!  Then one day before retirement i.e. on 30th April 1976 he was dismissed from his job without waiting for the decision of the court!  What could be more embarrassing for a soldier dedicated to a country!  Meanwhile, his wife succumbed to cancer and his children’s education was badly affected!

On June 6, 1984, at around 12 noon, the body of Jan Subeg Singh was tied with ropes and washed out of Akal Takht Saab.  First the corpse was humiliated and then photographed with the corpse!  It was a strange coincidence that the army general who had taken up arms against about 100,000 enemy soldiers and had taken full care of their dignity, had disgraced his own body to the brim with his own departments!  It was a strange coincidence that the allegation of corruption was used as a basis for disgrace and expulsion from the army.  Was!
