The national carrier of Afghanistan is known as Ariana Afghan Airlines. Ariana means the land of the Aryans. This was the name of ancient Afghanistan and was given by the Greeks. Prior to the exodus of Sikhs and Hindus in 1992-94, the Afghan Hindus and Sikhs were part and parcel of Afghan society.
