Another tradition

What traditions have you not kept that your parents had?

Another tradition I haven’t kept is sending handwritten holiday cards. My parents always made a point to send personalized cards to friends and family during the holiday season. With the rise of digital communication, I tend to send e-cards or emails instead.I’ve also not kept up with the tradition of having a vegetable garden. My parents always had a small garden where they grew various vegetables, but living in an apartment without much outdoor space has made that impractical for me.

Celebrating Milestones with Large Gatherings: My parents often threw big parties for birthdays, anniversaries, and other milestones. I usually opt for smaller, more intimate celebrations with close friends or family.Regular Church Attendance: My family attended church every Sunday without fail. While I still hold spiritual beliefs, I don’t attend services as regularly as they did.Home-Cooked Meals Every Night: My parents prioritized home-cooked meals every evening. With my busy schedule, I often resort to quick and convenient options like takeout or ready-made meals.Annual Family Vacations: We used to take an annual family vacation to different destinations. Now, my travel plans are more sporadic and less family-centered.Seasonal Cleaning: My parents had a tradition of thorough spring and fall cleaning of the house. I do regular cleaning but don’t follow the same rigorous seasonal routine.
