The Khalas Bureau:
The role played by the New Zealand Sikh community in the Lockdown during the CWID-19 crisis and the distribution by the Supreme Sikh Society of New Zealand to more than 40,000 needy local community families across New Zealand. The food kits, which have reached nearly two lakh people, were handed over to Labor MP from Wigram on June 2. And Housing Minister Dr. A motion of thanks was moved by Megan Wood in the New Zealand Parliament, which passed it with special thanks to the Sikh community and the Supreme Sikh Society of New Zealand.
It may also be mentioned here that government institutions also offered government assistance to the Supreme Sikh Society for its services during this crisis. Which was politely rejected by the society as Guru Nanak’s langar is associated with the eternal sangat, is a historical tradition which should be seen as a dignified historical tradition of the Sikh community in New Zealand. Daljit Singh, who has been overseeing the entire work during the aforesaid historic service of the Chief Spokesperson of the Supreme Sikh Society, said that this is not an achievement but the glory of our Guru’s philosophy.
The aforesaid vote of thanks of Parliament will not only carry the identity of Sikhs, our heritage, but also the spirit of service, mutual cooperation and will strengthen us socially and politically in the national scene of the country.
